Close your eyes and imagine a waterfall pouring over the edge and falling with crashes and splashes into a gorge littered with large boulders. Then, feel the mist from the falls blowing through the breeze and kissing your face. What you are imagining is known as the “Niagara of the South”, this 125 foot wide waterfall appears to be a curtain of water falling to the gorge below. No matter when you see this waterfall it is amazing and it gives off a different appearance at night and during the day.
One of the most amazing aspects of Cumberland Falls is the moon bow, which only shows up on nights when there is a full moon.
